Starting off with one Colson Baker, formerly known as Machine Gun Kelly, album Lost Americana arrived Friday (Aug. 8) and marks yet another genre shift for the musician. After cutting his teeth on hip-hop before switching over to pop punk in recent years, MGK is now pivoting to melodic folk-tinged music on the 13-track effort that Bob Dylan helped announce months prior.
The Jo Bros also came out with a new LP on Friday, releasing Greetings From Your Hometown as an homage to the ways the places in which we grew up shape us. Following 2023’s The Album, the new full-length is the third album the brothers have released since reuniting in 2019 on Happiness Begins.
But those are just two of the many LPs that dropped this week, with Gunna, Bailey Zimmerman, Ethel Cain, Bryson Tiller and Amaarae all sharing full-lengths and kicking off new musical eras with their respective projects. Plus, Laufey has a new album coming in just two weeks, something she prepped fans for by dropping vulnerable single “Snow White” ahead of time.
