Texas Longhorns get devastating injury news after Ole Miss win
The Texas Longhorns saved their season on Saturday with a 34-27 win over the Ole Miss Rebels. Coming off back-to-back losses to Oklahoma and Florida the team quarterbacked by Arch Manning was on its way out of the top 25 before a win over the No. 7 team in the nation put them right back in the thick of the College Football Playoff picture.
Now for the bad news. During Texas’ win they lost starting left tackle Trevor Goosby to a knee injury. Goosby had to be carted off the field on Saturday. Sunday afternoon ESPN’s Pete Thamel announced that Goosby would miss the remainder of the season.

Sources: Texas star left tackle Trevor Goosby will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a knee injury against Ole Miss on Saturday. Goosby is the country’s top NFL prospect at left tackle, as ESPN’s Field Yates ranked him the No. 8 pick in his most recent mock draft. https://t.co/vJSjKzeTlz— Pete Thamel (@PeteThamel) October 25, 2026
This is obviously bad news for Manning and the Longhorns. Anytime you lose a starting lineman, it’s bad news. Goosby being the left tackle makes it worse. And when you consider how good he is, that’s devastating.
Goosby was All-SEC last season as he started all 13 games for Texas. A 6-foot-7, 325-pound senior, he is a projected first round pick in the 2027 NFL draft. He escaped a knee injury during the preseason.

Manning’s play, combined with the team’s most recent results had people wondering if he might transfer after this season. Not to mention whispers about whether or not he should be benched. Who knows what the view will be now that Texas has lost Goosby.
Texas will continue their season on Halloween against Mississippi State. After that they have back-to-back matchups with top 25 teams in Missouri and LSU. It could be a tough few weeks for the Longhorns and it will start on the injury report.
