Wisconsin football extended an offer to class of 2027 edge rusher Mekai Brown on Saturday.
The Badgers are one of the early programs on Brown's offer sheet. As of Aug. 1, the four-star prospect only held offers from Boston College, Florida, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse and UConn.
247Sports ranks the Greenwich, Connecticut, native as the No. 118 overall player in the class of 2027, the No. 16 edge rusher and the top player from his home state. Still extremely early in the cycle, On3/Rivals lists Rutgers as the favorite to land the top prospect's commitment (43.8%), with UConn (13.6%), Boston College (11.7%) and others also in the mix.
Brown is Wisconsin's 15th edge-rusher offer in the class, four of whom are within the top 100 of 247Sports national composite rankings. The Badgers are looking for a resurgent 2027 cycle after a disappointing output in 2026. As of Aug. 3, Wisconsin's 2026 class ranks just No. 60 nationally and No. 16 in the Big Ten.
Prospects like Brown will be worth watching as the 2027 cycle picks up steam. His potential commitment, especially if he rises inside the nation's top 100, could headline the Badgers' class. At the least, Wisconsin joining Brown's offer sheet early should help its chances.
