WATCH: WR Christian Kirk makes Texans' debut at voluntary OTA workouts

Christian Kirk could be the missing link for the Houston Texans' passing game this fall.

Kirk, a former second-round pick from Texas A&M, made his Texans' debut during drills on Wednesday's voluntary OTA workouts at NRG Stadium. After being acquired from the Jacksonville Jaguars for a 2026 seventh-round pick, the hope is he'll regain his 2022 form and serve as a constant No. 2 weapon opposite Pro Bowler Nico Collins in the slot.

The 5-foot-11 slot weapon seemed comfortable running drills during team workouts inside the Texans' training complex while catching passes from C.J. Stroud. Here's a look at the new target donning the No. 13 ahead of the 2025 season.

Kirk, who is entering the final year of his four-year contract, was scheduled to have the Jaguars' highest cap number in 2025 at $24.4 million. The Texans have worked out a restructuring of his salary in 2025, thus having him on a more team-friendly deal this upcoming fall.

After spending the first four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, Kirk signed a four-year, $72 million deal in 2022 with the Jaguars, which drew massive negative attention because of his production. He backed up the deal that season, totaling career-highs in catches (84), receiving yards (1,108) and touchdown receptions (eight) while helping Jacksonville make the postseason.

Since then, he sat out 14 games over the past two seasons because of an abdominal injury and broken collarbone, finishing with a combined 84 catches for 1,166 yards and four TDs in 20 games. The hope his he'll remain healthy enough to provide stability in the slot for the start of the new season as Houston looks to win its third straight AFC South division title.

“I think the most important thing from Kirk is just his consistency," new Texans offensive tackle and former Jaguars starter Cam Robinson said last month. "His consistency and his reliability.  You know what you are going to get from him, he is going to do what he is supposed to do, he is going to be where he is supposed to be. I think one of the best qualities is to be someone that you can count on. I think that is what he brings.”
