Sixers star Tyrese Maxey ranked No. 11 best player in the league

As Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey has grown as a player in this league, he heads into his seventh season in the NBA as one of the game's premier talents. He's somebody who can take over a game in the blink of an eye and he also has the ability to make sure Philadelphia is in a position to win basketball games at a high rate.

As Maxey prepares for another season in the league, he will look to take another step forward. He averaged 28.3 points, 6.6 assists, and 4.1 rebounds while shooting 46.2% from the floor and 36.7% from deep in the 2025-26 season on his way to being named to the All-NBA Third Team. The No. 21 pick of the 2020 draft is now looking to help Philadelphia get over the hump and make a deep run into the playoffs.

ESPN ranked the top 100 players in the league heading into the 2026-27 season and Maxey comes in ranked No. 11 on the list ahead of Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry:

Maxey's scoring average has increased in each of his six seasons in the league, topping out at 28.3 points per game last season (No. 5 in the league), which earned him an All-NBA third-team selection. It cannot be overstated how much Maxey's presence factored into LeBron James' decision to sign with the 76ers, and it will be on the 25-year-old combo guard to make James and Jaylen Brown feel welcome while still maximizing the holdover talents of Embiid and VJ Edgecombe. There's nothing about Maxey's game or personality that would suggest he won't be able to continue to thrive with the spotlight even brighter this season.

Maxey will have some of the game's best around him in the form of LeBron James and Jaylen Brown. As Philadelphia now heads into the new season, it will continue to rely on Maxey to be the team's leader and making sure everybody comes in prepared to get what needs to be done done in order to succeed in this upcoming season. James and Brown will present the championship habits as players who have won titles, but Maxey will be the ones to make sure everybody is good to go for when it matters most.
