The Steelers wanted to add an outside linebacker, as evidenced by the team working out four on Wednesday. However, the team will be adding a different name, per a report from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, with Pittsburgh set to sign outside linebacker Jeremiah Moon from the Panthers’ practice squad.

By poaching Moon from a practice squad, the Steelers will have to sign him to their 53-man roster.
Moon should be a familiar name for Steelers fans. He played in 13 games for Pittsburgh in 2024, even starting one, logging nine total tackles and 222 special teams snaps. He spent the summer of 2025 with the Steelers, being released on cutdown day and picked up by Carolina.
With the Panthers this season, Moon has appeared in one game, playing six snaps on special teams.
With T.J. Watt and Nick Herbig DNPs on the injury report, the Steelers are boosting their depth at outside linebacker. The team hasn’t made the Moon signing official yet, but they’ll have to announce a corresponding release when they do.
