Meet Detroit Red Wings' NHL draft class of 2025: 5 forwards, 2 defensemen and a goaltender

The  Detroit Red Wings added nine prospects to the organization at the 2025 NHL Draft, selecting players that add to the pipeline at every position.

Round 1: F Carter Bear, No. 13

2024-25: Tied for seventh in the Western Hockey League with 40 goals in 56 games and led Everett with 82 points before a season-ending Achilles injury in March.

The buzz: Well-rounded and incredibly tenacious, Bear (6 feet, 179 pounds) described himself as someone who hates losing more than he loves winning. The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native can play in all situations and score from the perimeter, off the rush or at the net.

Carter Bear poses for a portrait after being drafted by the Detroit Red Wings with the 13th overall pick during the first round of the 2025 NHL Draft at JW Marriott Los Angeles on Friday, June 27, 2025.

Round 2: F Eddie Genborg, No. 44

2024-25: Had 19 goals and 15 assists in 28 games with Linköping's junior team, and two assists in two games with club's Swedish Hockey League squad. Had 18 points in 28 games total representing the Swedish national U-18 squad.

The buzz: Genborg (6-2, 196) has figured how to use his size to maximize his impact as an 18-year-old, which bodes well for him as he moves onto the SHL.

Round 3: G Michal Pradel, No. 75

2024-25: Posted a 2.41 goals-against average and .899 save percentage in 14 games with the Tri-City Storm (USHL).

The buzz: Pradel (6-5, 194) spent the latter part of his draft-year season in the USHL, but also played junior hockey in his native Slovakia. Pradel described his assets as his size and positioning and ability to read plays.

Michal Pradel poses after being drafted by the Detroit Red Wings with the 75th overall pick during the third round of the 2025 NHL Draft at Peacock Theater on Saturday, June 28, 2025 in Los Angeles, California.

Round 4: F Brent Solomon, No. 109

The buzz: Solomon (5-11, 165) is a natural goal scorer with a very good release.

Round 4: F Michal Svrcek, No. 119

2024-25: Had 14 goals and 16 assists in 30 games with Brynäs' junior team in Sweden, along with a three-point, 17-game appearance with the club's SHL team.

Round 5: D Nikita Tyurin, No. 140

2024-25: Produced 4 goals and 16 assists in 50 games with Spartak Moskva junior team along with five assists in 19 playoff games.

The buzz: The Wings really like how the Russian Tyurin (6-0, 174) handled himself in the playoffs. He's a mobile defender, an effective puck mover who makes a deft first pass.

Round 6: D Will Murphy, No. 172

2024-25: Recorded two goals and two assists in 50 games with the Cape Breton Eagles (QMJHL), where he's slated to play against next season.
