Matthew Stafford has shown absolutely no signs of slowing down as he approaches 40 years old, continuing to put together strong seasons for the Los Angeles Rams in recent years.
He’s entering his age-37 season in 2025 and though he’s still viewed as a top-10 quarterback by most, even he knows he has some limitations – one of them being the 2028 Olympics flag football team.
With NFL players allowed to participate in the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles now that flag football has been added, Stafford was asked Wednesday whether he’d be interested in playing. His answer was perfectly humble.
“You talking about coaching or what?” Stafford said after letting out a laugh and raising an eyebrow.
As for whether he would want to play, he knows that’s not realistic.
“Sure,” he said, smiling. “I mean, nobody's going to want me to but yeah, sure. It'd be fun. I'll coach.”
Matthew Stafford's response to the possibility of being on the flag football team in the 2028 Olympics was pretty funny lol

Spoken like a true veteran who knows where he stands at this point in his career.
Flag football is a young man’s game and it would probably help if the quarterback were mobile, so Stafford doesn’t exactly check either of those boxes.
