Kliff Kingsbury landing spots: Where might QB guru coach next?
The Washington Commanders parted ways with offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury on Tuesday, leaving them needing a new play-caller for quarterback Jayden Daniels.
However, Kingsbury now enters the coaching market as one of the highest-profile offensive coaches on the market. While Washington's 2025 season was a disappointment, he coached up Daniels to superstardom last season.
The latter's injuries from this past fall hurt the Commanders' offense overall, but the team was contending for a Super Bowl just a year ago. Kingsbury should be a very attractive candidate as an offensive play-caller and QB guru.
While Kingsbury could land a head coaching job, we expect him to transition into a new offensive coordinator role for a team needing an amplified offense. While he could hypothetically get another head coaching job, Kingsbury feels more like a strong coordinator candidate at this point.
We've listed four teams where Kingsbury's services could really come in handy for an offensive coordinator job and one team that really could consider him for a head coaching position.
Eagles offensive coordinator
Kingsbury could run a similar scheme in Philadelphia with Jalen Hurts that he did with Washington with Daniels if the Eagles move on from Kevin Patullo. Philly could flex having Kingsbury resurrect its offense over a NFC foe that just parted ways with him. That could really put the cherry on top of a potentially huge move for the Eagles.
Seahawks offensive coordinator
If Klint Kubiak gets a head coaching job, Kingsbury could be a hot name to replace him. He would inherit one of the most fearsome offenses in the NFL led by quarterback Sam Darnold and wideout Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
Lions offensive coordinator
If the Lions part ways with John Morton, we have a feeling Kingsbury will be high on their list to take over play-calling duties. Detroit has one of the best offensive rosters in the NFL, and Kingsbury could thrive with it.
Ravens offensive coordinator
If the Ravens part ways with Todd Monken (or watch him get a head coaching job), Kingsbury's most natural fit on this list might be calling plays for quarterback Lamar Jackson. The schematic pairing could be seamless.
Titans head coach
If the Titans want a guy known for developing quarterbacks, having Kingsbury lead the franchise isn't the worst idea for Tennessee. Cam Ward could really benefit from having Kingsbury coach him up.
