What a difference a year makes in the NFL Top 100 list.
Just one year ago the 2024 list was quite different with regards to the Washington Commanders. The NFL began this year's top 100 players on June 30. Coming in at No. 86 was new Commanders' left tackle Laremy Tunsil. On the 2024 list, Tunsil, then a member of the Houston Texans, was voted the No. 71 player in the NFL. Tunsil (6-5, 316) is a 10-year NFL veteran who entered the league with the Miami Dolphins as a first-round pick (13th overall) in the 2016 NFL draft.
How well were Washington players represented in 2024? Well, one important key to recall is that the Commanders were coming off their worst season, 4-13, since 2019, when head coach Jay Gruden was fired, and Washington finished 3-13.
Here are the Commanders on the 2024 NFL Top 100 list and how they were ranked:
Terry McLaurin, WR, No. 97
McLaurin will be higher in this year's ranking,s having collected 13 receiving touchdowns and 1,000+ receiving yards.
Montez Sweat, DE, No. 82
Sweat had actually been traded at the trade deadline by Washington to the Chicago Bears during the 2023 season.
Bobby Wagner, LB, No. 59
Though the run defense did surrender entirely too much in 2024. Wagner could be on the list again for 2025, perhaps ranked a bit lower.
Jonathan Allen, DT, No. 54
Allen apparently fell out of favor with Adam Peters and or Dan Quinn, as he was encouraged to pursue a trade, and was then released, signing with the Vikings
Which Commanders might be on the 2025 Top 100 list?
Laremy Tunsil, OT
Bobby Wagner, LB
Terry McLaurin, WR
Jayden Daniels, QB Daniels will undoubtedly be the highest ranked Commander in this year's list, possibly into the top 20.
