Florida football moves up to No. 8 in US LBM coaches poll

Florida football made a big jump in this week's US LBM coaches poll.

The Florida Gators (4-0, 2-0 SEC) moved up to No. 8 in the US LBM coaches poll. after their 52-28 win over No. 6 Ole Miss at The Swamp on September 26.

It's the highest ranking for the Florida since UF was ranked No. 6 in the US LBM coaches poll on December 5, 2020.

UF has scored 40 or more points in its first four games under Jon Sumrall and new offensive coordinator Buster Faulkner. The last time Florida scored 40 or more points in its first four games was 2001, when Steve Spurrier patrolled the sidelines.

In pulling away in the second half to beat Ole Miss, UF posted its highest-ranked win since beating No. 5 Georgia 44-28 on November 7, 2020.

"Excited about the direction we're headed," Sumrall said. "We have not arrived. We have so much room to grow and get better. And we still have to do that or we're not going to be pleased with outcomes that we have coming up."

Florida next plays October 3 at No. 25 Missouri (3:30 p.m., ABC). The Tigers (3-1, 0-1 SEC) are coming off a 31-24 loss at Mississippi State.
