Corona Centennial routs Servite: Score, updates, highlights from California high school football game originally appeared on The Sporting News

Corona Centennial, ranked third in California and 11th in the country, started the 2025 high school football season with a bang. The Huskies led 35-0 and went on to cruise past Servite, ranked 12th in California, 42-14.

It was a strong showing against Servite across the board, including Centennial's new skill position core, against one of California's top defenses and an offense featuring some big names.

After getting significant run in 2024 as Centennial's second-string QB, 2-star senior Dominick Catalano was outstanding with three touchdowns and roughly 300 yards in the air.

Two of Catalano's touchdown passes went to TE Keawe Browne, a 3-star senior ATH prospect with 21 offers including Texas, USC, Boise State, and BYU. Browne (6-5, 220) has been considered one of the top breakout candidates entering the season after a promising junior campaign in which he had many strong moments as a blocking tight end and defensive end but only made one catch for five yards. Less than one minute into his 2025 campaign, he already had a 65-yard touchdown. Scouts have long liked Browne's potential as a substantial receiving threat at TE, and against Servite, he showed why.

Catalano also threw a 15-yard touchdown to WR Ty Plinski, who made a one-handed highlight grab for the score.

Speaking of breakout performances, sophomore RB Malaki Davis erupted for three rushing touchdowns after totaling seven carries for 59 yards and two TDs as a freshman. Davis, who already has six D-1 offers, scored from 34 yards, 20 yards, and the red zone on Friday.

While Servite had a tough season opener, the second half was distinctly positive despite a. It takes a lot of strength quick regrouping to a 7-7 second half against one of the best teams in the country after trailing 21-0 through eight minutes and 35-0 at halftime. Servite's defense visibly organized itself throughout the latter 3.5 quarters of the game, and its overall physicality appeared to wear Centennial down a bit as the game went on.

Servite's scores came on a Jacob Jackson run and a pass from Kale Murphy to Benjamin Harris.
