Irsay’s patch includes his initials in bold white letters, overlaid by a copy of his signature and the trademark smiley face he always used to write on autographs for fans.
The circle also includes seven grommets, linking the patch with the team’s horseshoe logo.
The team will wear the patch throughout the 2025 season, and the Colts also changed the pictures of their social media accounts to the image of the patch.
Irsay died peacefully in his sleep last Wednesday, according to the team, prompting an outpouring of support for Irsay’s family, friends and team from the city of Indianapolis, the rest of the NFL and the world at large.
The Colts also released a tribute video to Irsay on their social media accounts on Tuesday morning, remembering the franchise’s owner, showing Irsay making speeches to the organization, celebrating the team’s Super Bowl title and interacting with fans.
Irsay’s father, Bob, promoted his son to vice president and general manager at the age of 24, shortly after moving the team to Indianapolis, and Irsay devoted the rest of his life to the Colts, guiding the organization out of the cellar and to the mountaintop with Peyton Manning at the helm.
