Chiefs RB Kenneth Walker Breaks Silence on Controversial Handshake Snub After Seahawks Loss

The Kansas City Chiefs’ loss to the Seattle Seahawks brought attention to Patrick Mahomes’ teammate, who left the field without the usual postgame handshakes with his former team.

The decision came after the defeat, with the Chiefs RB later pointing to the loss and the Seahawks’ celebrations when explaining his reaction.

Kenneth Walker III went straight to the locker room after the Kansas City Chiefs lost 20–3 to the Seattle Seahawks, skipping postgame handshakes with his former teammates and coaches. The defeat ended Kansas City’s unbeaten start to the 2026 season and left the Chiefs with a 5–1 record. Walker’s decision to leave the field without greeting his former teammates and coaches drew attention after the game.

Walker finished with 36 rushing yards on 14 carries and added 21 receiving yards on four catches. His rushing total was his lowest of the season. After the final whistle, he did not stop to exchange handshakes with Seahawks players or coaches and instead headed directly to the locker room.

A caption describing the incident stated, “Kenneth Walker Didn’t Shake Hands With A Single Seahawks Player Or Coach After This Game.” Walker later explained his decision following the game.

“S***, we lost,” Walker said in explaining his decision. “I was frustrated. That’s about it. I [saw] them over there celebrating and s***. That’s about it.”

Walker said his decision was based on frustration after the loss. He did not identify a personal dispute with his former teammates or coaches as the reason for skipping the postgame handshakes.

Walker joined the Seahawks after being selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft and spent four seasons with the team. During the 2025 season, he recorded 1,027 rushing yards. He also earned Super Bowl LX MVP honors after Seattle defeated the New England Patriots 29–13. Walker rushed for 135 yards in that game.

In March 2026, Walker left Seattle in free agency and signed a three-year contract with the Chiefs worth up to $45 million, including $28.7 million guaranteed. The matchup against Seattle marked his first game against his former team after the move.

Walker entered the Seahawks game after recording 701 rushing yards and six rushing touchdowns across his first six games of the 2026 season. His 36-yard performance represented a significant drop from those earlier totals.

The Chiefs also struggled offensively throughout the game. They finished with 213 total yards and converted only three of 11 third-down attempts. Mahomes completed 19 of 33 passes for 165 yards and threw one interception. Kansas City failed to score a touchdown and finished with three points.

The loss ended Chiefs unbeaten start and dropped the team to 5–1. In his first game against the Seahawks since leaving in free agency, Walker was held to 36 rushing yards and headed directly to the locker room after the final whistle.
