Ouaddou on Pirates' treble narrative

Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has played down the Buccaneers' chances of winning a domestic treble after reaching yet another cup final.

The Soweto giants progressed to the Carling Knockout Cup final at the expense of Richards Bay at the weekend and will battle Marumo Gallants for the crown next month.

Pirates have already clinched the MTN8 title this season and currently sit second on the Betway Premiership table, three points behind log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns with two games in hand.

Though the prospect of achieving a treble is realistic, the former Morocco international is not getting ahead of himself and insists the Bucs camp is taking it one game at a time.

“We take games by games, step by step, and the target is to win every game. You know when we put feet on the pitch, the target for the players is to deliver great game, great performances and all the time the target is to win,” said Ouaddou.

"We are going to the final of course. I usually say that a final you don't play it, you win it. So, the target is definitely to go to win that final and that's it.

Pirates' last treble dates back to the 2011/12 campaign, where they were crowned South African champions before the ongoing 13-year league title drought.
