Out of the 14 invites, the Patriots signed Arkansas State guard Mehki Butler, Virginia Tech defensive tackle Wilfried Pene and former Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Isaiah Iton.
Butler, a former NJCCA first-team All-American out of Iowa Western Community College, started in 38 games at left tackle at Arkansas State. The Patriots spent plenty of resources aimed at improving in the trenches, and they could be eyeing Butler as a potential depth piece at tackle.
Iton spent the 2024 season on the Titans' practice squad. He signed a futures contract with the team before being released in April. Meanwhile, the Patriots get an international exemption with the Pene signing. They also get an improving defensive player coming off a season where he had 33 tackles, 5.5 tackles for a loss and 3.5 sacks.
Now that rookie minicamp is in the rearview, the next step in the Patriots' offseason program continues with the start of organized team activities next week.
