The Chicago Bears’ made a blockbuster trade for defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, adding another formidable presence to their defensive front. The move has already drawn attention from division rivals, including Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs, who recognizes the challenge Chicago has created but believes his team has an answer of its own.
Speaking about the blockbuster deal, Jacobs acknowledged Simmons’ ability while pointing to a potential boost coming for Green Bay.
“They got better, he’s a great player, but, yeah, you know man we getting a very special player back too, so we’ll see how it goes,” the Packers running back said in a clip shared by Carson Fowler on X.

Jacobs’ response reflects the competitive atmosphere surrounding the NFC North, where the Bears are looking to strengthen their position with a significant addition. Chicago gave the Tennessee Titans its 2027 and 2028 first-round picks, along with a fourth-round selection, to secure Simmons.
The defensive tackle wasted little time making his presence felt. In his Chicago debut against the Seattle Seahawks on Monday Night Football, Simmons recorded six tackles, a sack, and a pass deflection that helped set up a game-sealing interception in the Bears’ 34-17 victory.
His arrival gives Chicago another disruptive force alongside edge rusher Montez Sweat, making the Bears a tougher matchup for divisional opponents.
Still, Jacobs is not ready to concede anything to Chicago. His comments suggest Green Bay expects to get an important player back as well, setting up another intriguing chapter in the rivalry. With both teams looking to establish themselves, their next meetings could carry even greater significance.
