Olivia Miles breaks Caitlin Clark's rookie scoring record as Lynx near No. 1 seed

The Lynx snapped a three-game losing streak, and Olivia Miles broke Caitlin Clark’s WNBA rookie scoring record in a 101-89 win over the Connecticut Sun on Sunday.

Miles surpassed Clark’s 2024 record with a free throw with 9:31 left in the second quarter, bringing her season total to 770 points. The free throw was her first point of the game, and she finished with 21 to push the new record to 790 points and counting.

With two games left in the regular season, Miles will further pad her record. At the same time, Minnesota (32-10) needs one win or a Golden State loss to secure the No. 1 seed in the playoffs.

Ironically, the Lynx close out the regular season with two games against Clark and the Fever. Indiana hosts Minnesota at 7 p.m. CT on Tuesday, and then the two WNBA powers meet in Minneapolis for the finale at 7 p.m. CT on Thursday.

Golden State (31-11) is in Portland on Tuesday and in Los Angeles on Thursday.

In Sunday’s win, all five Lynx starters scored in double figures: Napheesa Collier led the way with 23 points, while Miles (21), Natasha Howard (18 points and 11 rebounds), Kayla McBride (14), and Courtney Williams (11) all filled the bucket as the Lynx shot 50 percent overall, despite going just 4-of-21 from three-point range.
