According to TuttoMercatoWeb, uncertainty continues to surround the future of Scott McTominay at Napoli, with contract extension talks reportedly at a standstill and interest growing from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Napoli have yet to reach an agreement with the Scotland international over a new deal, creating concern that his long-term future could become a significant issue. As the situation remains unresolved, Real Madrid are said to have made enquiries with the player’s representatives to better understand his contractual position.
Interest could also emerge from the Premier League if negotiations continue to stall. However, Napoli are determined to avoid losing one of their key midfielders in the middle of the season.
Sporting director Giovanni Manna, in agreement with manager Massimiliano Allegri, is prepared to block any January offers for McTominay. The club’s preferred option is to keep the midfielder until at least the end of the campaign and continue working towards a contract renewal.
Should no agreement be reached, Napoli may be forced to reassess the situation next summer, but for now their priority is ensuring that interest from Real Madrid and other clubs does not develop into a serious winter transfer battle.
